Sam is an English educator with a strong academic background and extensive teaching experience. He earned his MPhil in English Studies at the University of Cambridge, where he focused on modern and contemporary poetics, and holds an HBA from the University of Toronto with majors in Literature & Critical Theory and Philosophy.
Sam has worked for many years as a writing and literacy teacher, helping students aged 6–18 build confidence and mastery in reading comprehension, analytical writing, and critical thinking. He is experienced in guiding students through English literature, essay writing, and creative expression, whether in one-on-one tutoring or small group settings.
Sam is also a journalist who writes on politics and social issues, and he brings this real-world perspective into his teaching. He believes that the best English education goes beyond the classroom: encouraging students to read deeply, write with clarity, and connect their ideas to the world around them.
Outside of work, Sam enjoys birdwatching, spending time with his dog, friends, and family, and—though not very successfully—trying to get better at chess.
