Emily is a dedicated writing instructor and mentor with extensive experience teaching and supporting students across high school and college levels. She has served as an Instructor of Record at Arizona State University, where she taught college-level writing courses (ENG 101/102), helping students develop analytical clarity and effective written expression. She has also worked closely with emerging writers as part of the Rainier Writers Workshop, a nationally recognized low-residency MFA program.

Notably, Emily has been selected to teach at the Kenyon Review Summer Workshop, one of the most competitive and highly regarded writing programs for high school students in the United States. Her involvement reflects both her teaching excellence and her ability to mentor advanced young writers in a rigorous academic environment.

In addition to her teaching, Emily is an award-winning poet whose work has appeared in leading literary publications such as Prairie Schooner and Poem-a-Day from the Academy of American Poets, as well as the anthology Heaven Looks Like Us: Palestinian Poetry (Haymarket Books). She has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and Best New Poets, and is a recipient of the Peter Taylor Fellowship from the Kenyon Review.

At Genesis Education, Emily focuses on helping students move beyond formulaic writing to develop independent thinking, authentic voice, and deep engagement with ideas. Her teaching supports students not only in producing strong academic writing, but in building the clarity of thought and intellectual confidence essential for long-term academic success.

Outside of teaching, she enjoys film, thrifting, and spending time with her cat, Jasper.
